What is groundworkk?
groundwork is a monthly social event that micro-funds creative local projects.

How did groundworkk start?
For a long time, I have been inspired by the numerous creative ideas that individuals in the Raleigh area aspire to create for the community.
Many times, these unconventional local ventures struggle, due to difficulty getting ’seed’ money, the lack of community support or other factors.
After hearing about numerous alternative funding scenarios in other cities and noting the absence of such opportunities in the Raleigh area,
groundworkk hopes to serve as a great evening of collaboration and a source of resources and support to deserving, inspiring local projects
by combing the social experience of DetroitSOUP, the community funding model of Kickstarter, and drawing upon our unique Raleigh culture.
Then groundworkk was invited to Durham! Honored to be welcomed by the art scene in the ’Bull City’, we are hosting events in Durham too!

Who can attend groundworkk events and how much does it cost?
All members of the local community are invited to attend.
There is a $5 door donation.
All proceeds raised are given to one of the presenters at the end of the event!

What is the schedule for the evening?
Each event will follow a similar schedule:
Doors open - 6:30pm
Project Proposal Presentations - 7:00pm to 7:45pm
Dinner and Discussion - 8:00pm to 9:00pm
Micro-Funding Awarded - 9:00

How many proposals are accepted each month?
Each groundworkk event will present up to 4 proposals per month.
Proposals not presented that month may be reconsidered for the following month.
The deadline for project applications is set at least one week before each event to ensure that the groundworkk executive committee
has time to review and select that month’s projects if more than 4 proposals are received.

How is groundworkk run?
groundworkk’s founder acts as planner and facilitator for each groundworkk event.
groundworkk is headed by a five member executive committee, comprised of local, active and interested community and business leaders.
The executive committee assists the groundworkk founder in the pre-selection of projects. Executive committee members will serve a 2-year term.
